Epiphany of Sound – Vol. 173

Epiphany of Sound returns with a set of outstanding melodies! Be it Gareth Emery, Andy Newtz & Paul Ryan or the Thrillseekers Remix of Haliene’s Hollow – you will be amazed by the pluck synths, full strings and pads or running sequences.

This time I didn’t pick a classic tune, but inserted two veterans of Trance music teaming up: Talla 2XLC & Lost Witness delivered Red Sun Rising and it matched perfectly into this hour of Trance.

Waves – 15th Anniversary on 2nd February 2025

Wow, how time flies by! 15 year have gone until I mixed the first Waves show in 2010 and a lot has happened since then. I have played thousands and thousands of tunes, maybe hundreds of artists and several styles.

The show ranges from traditional Chillout from the likes of Conjour One, Reuben Halsey or Vangelis over classical music represented by Afternova, Ludovico Einaudi or Yann Tiersen, also Ambient by Night Note, Ivan Black, Brian Eno or The Oxford Ambient Collective or experimental music by Olafur Arnalds, Ullapul or The Quietist finally to Dubstep from Bonobo, Burial, Massive Attack or Rameses B, Trance Ambient by Above & Beyond, Tenishia or Pedro del Mar and Postrock by Hammock or jazzdefector.

The show has had very different shows with breakbeats, beatless shows, piano only, dubstep and drum & bass, experimental or melodic shows, so I had the task to put together an anniversary representing all this variety! To be fair: You could say I failed. And you could say I prevailed. Considering all the big names and all the styles I couldn’t put everything together in one show. That would have been a 4 hours show at least!

But on the other hand there is music by a lot of very important artists in different styles: Chicane, Magdelayna, MoonRacer, Above & Beyond, The Thrillseekers, Thomas Newman, Classical Glass, BT, Brombaer, Imogen Heap, Vito von Gert and many others. The first hour features some newer sounds from 2024 and 2025, the second hour brings you back with some classical sounds by some of the most influential artists for me in the last 15 years. As stated earlier I couldn’t get everything crammed into this show, but I think some of the best are in there. And maybe some forgotten gems.

Finally I had to put in one of my own productions representing my Ambient style. And there had to be one tune in the show by Ingo Vogelmann. At first he is a big influence in my musical work. Second he brought me to FriskyRadio and gave my career a big push. So he had to be in there!

Epiphany of Sound – Vol. 170 – Aly & Fily Tribute

Once in a while I can’t hold back and listen to older tracks and classics. Then I feel the urge for playing a classics set, which I needed to do in summer! This time it is a Tribute set for Aly & Fila who have formed and influenced the Trance scene in the last 15 years like few other artists and performers. With Future Sound of Egypt the also installed a go-to-label for quality Trance you can always rely on. So this episode is featuring a lot of their best productions and some remixes for and by other artists like Dan Stone, Ciaran McAuley, ReOrder & Ian Standerwick, Lost Witness or the one and only Ferry Corsten.

Epiphany of Sound – Vol. 137

Three weeks have passed and I finally cooked a new Epiphany of Sound with three main ingredients: melodies, beats and emotion. The opener is The Thrillseekers‘ classic Dreaming Of You remixed by Flutlicht, a major name back in the day. The rest is new music by Gayax, Independent Art, Memory Loss and Miroslav Vrlik & Dave Steward. Also, I can’t stop playing Silent Waves by Matys & CJ Stone. What a track!

Epiphany of Sound – Vol. 131

Trance is back and this time I started different: Yusuke Teranishi released a phenomenal album in late 2020 and so I picked The World Tree as an opener. The rest will take you one a journey from progressive Trance to uplifting by Deidian, James Dymond, MarLo, or the classic by The Thrillseekers. He remade his remix for Emotion in Motion by Witness of Wonder.
