Waves – 14th Anniversary on 4 February 2024

To be honest, I can’t really believe that Waves will make its 14th birthday on next Sunday! It was my first regular show and still is my love while mixing it every month. I never missed a show in 14 years!

For the anniversary I put together some really nice tunes by the likes of Inon Bramy, Vince Forwards, Alexxon, Fort Road, Alexander Tarasov and many more! Also I had to include what is possibly my album of 2023: BT’s The Secret Language of Trees combines wonderful melodies with interesting beats, some glitches, some drones and long track development, which I really came to love. So in the show there are two of the album tracks.

So don’t miss it and tune into Frisky CHILL on Sunday at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET and enjoy the Waves crashing through your speakers!

Ingo Vogelmann – Bereft (Review)

Ingo Vogelmann will release his fourth album in 2023. Being away from music production for quite some time Vogelmann seems to have his most productive year so far. After As Above, So Below, Weigthless, and Elegy for the Living he digs deeper into Ambient soundscapes. Long story short: listen to it and contemplate the reason you exist. It is best suited for very close listening and exploring your mind. It will be released on every platform on November 3rd, 2023 – for example Bandcamp, Spotify or Apple Music. Ingo sent me a review copy upfront so I could give it a listen.

Next WAVES on 6 August 2023

The second half of the year has begun and every new month means a new WAVES on FriskyRadio! This time I picked some very special pad tunes from Night Note, Adam Francis, Sonic Scope and Numedian.

Having released 3 albums this year, my good friend Ingo Vogelmann is a guest in the playlist again with 3 tunes. Of course you can look forward to hearing some epic orchestra or some chilled beats again, but the piano isn’t as wide spread as usual on the show.

So don’t miss this episode and tune into FriskyRadio CHILL on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 at 7 a.m. ESST / 1 p.m. CEST. Enjoy your Chillout Sunday!

Waves – 13 Years Anniversary

The new year has started and brings us to the next step concerning my music: My oldest show „Waves“ will have its 13th anniversary on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. And guess what: I have a special for you!

The new show will feature some of the best Ambient Trance there is. This means tracks by Above & Beyond, Blank & Jones, Magdelayna, Ciaran McAuley, Tritonal, illitheas, my own Ambient remix for Nu NRGs Free Fall and many many more.

So you should tune into FriskyRadio CHILL on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET. Then you will get two hours of pure chillout!

Next Waves on 4 December 2022

The new month has started and that means the next episode of „Waves“ is just around the corner. As you know the show in the past years it brings a lot of styles of chillout music. Once again we will start with very chilled Ambient, switch over to some relaxed beats, put in some piano melodies and end with ambient sounds again. As we are entering the dark time of the year the music is a little bit darker with Hawkdream, Olafur Arnalds, Solar Sound, Max Tarasov, Airbase or Eternall.

Recently I discovered a new chillout label named Space Music where you can find music by Solar Sound, L)Vladimir(P or Max Tarasov. I couldn’t find an online source for their music, but you should listen to the show!

So make sure you tune in to FriskyRadio CHILL on Sunday, December 4th, 2022 at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET.

Next Waves on 5 March 2021 feat. Sergey Tarasov

The next opportunity to completely relax is just around the corner! Waves will return after the 11 years anniversary (piano only episode) with a man who got his show Sounds Paradise just after I had him as a guest last year. Sergey Tarasov has proven that he can play the best chillout and thus I invited him back!

Of course there’s another hour of ambient, piano and pads for you ahead with me. I prepared a mix with the likes of Kori, Ferry Corsten’s new project FERR, Yusuke Teranishi and a small tribute to Daft Punk, who have announced their parting last week. Also I included a tune by Dirk Maassen. His was the last concert I heard in March 2020, just before the pandemic hit hard in Germany.

So get ready and tune into the Frisky CHILL channel on Sunday at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET.

Waves – 11 years Anniversary feat. Classical Glass

Every February it’s a special Waves show for me. In a week I’ll have my 11th anniversary with the show and on FriskyRadio in general! Sometimes I have some special guests, sometimes I play some special. So after having pianist and music producer Xeuphoria last year, this time I picked another pianist. Classical Glass is composing and playing his music with a scope from classical piano over ambient piano to orchestral music. I asked him about some of is most beloved own tunes and we compiled them.

Around this series of pieces I arranged some of the greatest modern piano music I know – from Dave Greening, Frances Shelley, Marco Lucchi or Olafur Arnalds to Stein Thor, Vince Forwards and the unforgettable Ludovico Einaudi.

So I prepared two hours of just piano music for you to enjoy your Chillout Sunday. Tune in on 7th February 2021, 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET to FriskyRadio CHILL and get relaxed!

Next Waves on 3 January 2021

The year 2020 is coming to an end and the next year is already unfolding. The first show of the year 2021 is already prepared for your first days. I put together all the best Chillout and Ambient tunes I found and played in 2020, so you can ready yourselves for music by Night Note, Vince Forwards, Classical Glass, Cosmaks, Chicane, Firas Tarhini, Robert Nickson and many many more!

So take your time on the first Sunday and start 2021 with chilled music on FriskyRadio CHILL. The show starts at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET.

Next Waves on 5 April 2020 feat. Sergey Tarasov

The novel coronavirus has the world in its hands. But I can assure you, Waves is here to calm your panic down! The spring edition of my Ambient/Chillout show is about to bring pads and synths through your speakers that will let you know: In the end everything will be fine.

With me I have the Russian Sergey Tarasov, whose tracks I have played throughout the years more than once. His production style is Chillout Trance mostly, but in his DJ sets he features some glitchy tunes with deep pads and rumbling beats, too. It is a revelation hearing his selection! In 2019 he already played a Chillout Sundays set on Frisky.

The second hour is music I picked with music by Stefan Grossmann, Astroleaf, DJ Shah, Jellis & Subsets and some other great artists. There is nothing to be missed here!

Take your time on Sunday, April 5th, 2020, at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET to switch to FriskyRadio CHILL and lower your heartbeat. You deserve it!

Next WAVES featuring The Quietist

From time to time I like to feature some artists as special guests on my show. Most of them provide their own mixes, but some are just producers. This time on the next WAVES show I will present Ambient artist The Quietist who is hailing from Northern England. He produces music ranging from drone Ambient to classical music with strings and vowl singing. But mind you, The Quietist is always about the big reverb, the big hall sound, while being musically minimalistic.

The Quietis - Avatar

Here’s what he has to say about himself:

My name is Phil Ward and I live on the Wirral in the North west of England.

I have listened to ambient music and electronic music since I was a child – I was first inspired by Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and The Art of Noise. As the ambient scene developed I listened to The Orb, Orbital, Future Sound of London and artists on the Warp label. Most recently I have enjoyed Pete Namlook’s FAX label and the long open soundscapes created by Tetsu Inoue. I also enjoy meditation music and natural sounds.

I am striving to create something beautiful. I usually improvise when I find an instrument or noise I like and gently build on top, layer by layer. I edit after I have listened to the track on headphones a few times. Generally my first take is the best – I like to feel the music and be taken on its journey as I write. I often feel that the music writes itself!

So in the first hour there will be tunes by The Quietist and the second will feature some Ambient, some Chillout, some beat music that reflects all the relaxation you need on your Sunday. I hope you will tune into FriskyRadio CHILL on Sunday, March 1st, 2020, at 7 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. CET!

And if you like the music, you can still head over to The Quietist – Bandcamp and buy his music for very little money!
