Mongolian Mixtape Marathon

The other day I found a website called “Mongolian Mixtape Marathon”. It was about two guys named Alastair and Tom who will travel by car from London to Mongolia (don’t exactly know where in Mongolia). Why? There’s a quite simple explanation by themselves:

We are raising money for Save The Children, in association with the Mongolian Charity Rally. Our specially equipped off-road vehicle will be packed full of educational materials and clothing to donate to the Mongolian people. We will also be donating the vehicle on arrival.

As they are travelling about 10,000 miles, there will be a lot of time to spend while driving. So they need DJ-mixes to keep them a bit occupied over the ca. 800 hours. And that’s where the DJs are involved: They donate a mix of 1 hour length and to do so they are required to donate a sum of at least 1 £. That’s not a great number, so I think every DJ in the western world can afford it. All DJs reading this should make a mix and upload it on the site “Mongolian Mixtape Marathon”! The deadline is 11 July, when they will leave to Mongolia.

I will mix my contribution tomorrow and will not keep the mix for myself. It will post it here to provide it to you!

PS: You can of course donate anything (equipment, expertise or money) without being a DJ or making a mix.

Letztens fand ich eine Website namens “Mongolian Mixtape Marathon”.  Dort ging es um zwei Typen – Alastair und Tom-, die zu Fuß mit dem Auto von London in die Mongolei (leider weiß ich nicht genau, wo in der Mongolei) fahren werden. Warum? Sie sammeln für Save The Children Geld und arbeiten dafür mit der Mongolian Charity Rally zusammen. Das Auto ist vollbepackt mit Lehrmaterialien und Kleidung, welche an das mongolische Volk gespendet werden sollen. Ebenso das Auto selbst.

Da sie etwa 10.ooo Meilen ( also runde 16.000 km) unterwegs sind, haben sie viel Zeit während der Fahrt. Also wünschen sie sich DJ-Mixes, damit sie die rund 800 Stunden Fahrt wenigstens ein bisschen beschäftigt sind. Und da kommen die DJs ins Spiel: Sie spenden einen Mix von etwa einer Stunde und können diesen hochladen, wenn sie mindestens 1 £ spenden. Das ist nicht viel – ich denke, jeder DJ der westlichen Welt kann sich das leisten!

Also: Alle DJs, die das lesen, sollten einen Stunden-Mix machen und ihn auf der Seite “Mongolian Mixtape Marathon” hochladen. Die Deadline ist der 11. Juli – da fahren die beiden los.

Ich werde morgen auf jeden Fall einen Mix aus der Plattenkiste zaubern und ihn nicht für mich behalten. Ich werde ihn hier posten und für euch bereitstellen!
